This magnificent figure is
from the Tabwa tribe. Their western neighbors, the Luba,
influenced the incorporation of prestige object into
Tabwa life. Tabwa figures generally display liner facial
scarifications and elongated features. Ancestral figures
, like these, were carved as prestige objects and their
role was to assert the chief's authority. The figure is
around 11" in height and is craved in the shape of
elongated form, standing on a circular base, with
slightly bent legs, hands resting on the abdomen and has
an elongated neck supporting a head with linear
scarifications. The figure is in excellent condition. Please contact me directly at Africando@soulcity.com
